Part of an ongoing project called "Just such nice people"
It is a perfectly chilly summers day I take the bus from my apartment in north west Berlin to Anjas place in the party center of Berlin to hang out, and take some pictures. After struggling to find the door that is hidden in a TIKI bar I finally hear a smile filled yell "Klara!" and i look up to see her bright face pointing me in the direction of a old yellow door "third floor, no elevator!"
Anja greets me at the door with a friendly hug "Welcome, you want some slippers?" as she points to some ohh-so-comfy slippers on the black and white tiled floor in her entry way. We make our way inside where I immediately feel at home.
Her apartment is open, white and perfectly goth/sweet, it resembles why I so desperately wanted her to be a one of the subjects of this project I am working on. Everything from the hand-stitched Bambi picture above her bedroom door to the human skull she has as a part of her impressive collection of animal skulls.
"I told my then boyfriend that I would stop buying animal skulls when I get my hands on a human skull. Then I finally stumbled upon one, and i have never bought any dead animal since"
Anja is a person that speaks from the heart, and that heart is filled with compassion and vulnerability . She is one of those people that when talking to her she listens, and she encourages and supports every creative idea I have ever bounced off of her.
During our hour of shooting and talking she shares some things that i wouldn't see if she hadn't allowed me in to her apartment.
